Journyx requires a relational database to store your Time and Expense information. You may either use the provided enterprise-ready PostgreSQL database, or you may supply your own external database server. Journyx strongly recommends using an external server and taking advantage of their security updates.
Journyx provides an "Internal Database" option for Windows. The feature is selected by default and installs the PostgreSQL open source database. During the "Setup Web Server and Database" program (which runs after you install Journyx and reboot) it will ask you whether you want to use the provided internal database or instead select an external database.
Anyone who wishes to use an external database such as PostgreSQL, Oracle or SQL Server must follow the instruction on this web page before installing. This will tell you how to configure your external database. These are general instructions that apply to all database types - you must also read the instructions for your specific platform.
