Much like the row and column totals update as time is entered in a field, so too should the ability to enter a record note for a given cell. Put another way, remove the requirement to click Save in order to see the gray shaded corner. Instead, have the shaded corner show up after entering time in that field. Also, once the record note itself is saved, automatically update the sheet to show the yellow corner - remove the requirement to again save the sheet.
